But because it's so cheap, if you need a remote volume control and listen to crap or don't care about the sound, try it out and if you don't like it, dump it.This is the first time that I have ever given a product a bad review, but this was too horrible to ignore. It's so cheap that it's not worth returning so it's going directly into the trash. As a former audio engineer for many years I was surprised that a passive unit could be so bad. No, it's not worth the time. I received this unit a few hours ago and after trying it out for 15 minutes I was amazed how bad this small unit is. Perhaps useful for those whose music tastes and needs are different than mine, the unit is useless if the accuracy of the musical performance is relevant to you. Maybe I'll open it up and see what it is and run a test or two out of curiosity.
Using this volume control, I can turn up the volume on the Dell to overpower the static while keeping the volume of the music in my ears low.The control is even less sexy than the picture on the website, if that's possible. This is a lifesaver for using headphones with my Dell D610 laptop which boasts an extremely noisy headphone jack with lots of interference at low volumes. It also doesn't work great for an extremely loud source (like my Dell port replicator's line out port), because the sound from the volume control doesn't seem to be output equally in both ears at low levels.
The VC20 has a little recessed area for the control wheel & it makes it kinda hard to work at times.Koss should just put a clip on a volume control like the one on the KSC-75s,it's a bit smaller & lighter.Despite that, this is a good control & it doesn't have a stupid price.
I just put them on high and control the volume through this instead. Not much to write, this is a great addition for those headphones which don't have their own volume control and you don't want to mess with the Windows volume or your music player volume. Recommended.
Being able to just adjust the volume with the Koss volume control is much easier than pulling out my Ipod or MP3 player to do it. This works exactly like it is advertised. I got the Koss volume control mainly because I listen to books when I walk and the traffic often makes it difficult to hear. It also conserves the battery by not having to adjust it on the player.
